CANoe Emulation Package EV: Validate EV Charging Communication Edge Cases With Emulated Charging Sessions
Stuttgart, Germany, 2026-11-03 – Vector Informatik introduces the CANoe Emulation Package EV, a new solution for emulating real-world charging infrastructure for EV charging tests. The Emulation Package EV uses recorded charging sessions to realistically and reproducibly recreate charging station behavior in the lab. Development and test teams can reduce time and costs while improving the quality of vehicle interoperability testing.

Interoperability testing between electric vehicles, charging stations, and backend systems is often complex and time-consuming. The CANoe Emulation Package EV addresses this challenge by leveraging real charging communication traces. Key communication parameters are extracted from recorded charging sessions and used to emulate the observed charging station behavior. This enables engineers to reproduce real-world scenarios, including edge cases and field issues, in the lab without repeatedly accessing physical charging stations.

With its focus on reproducing real-world fault scenarios, the Emulation Package EV allows vehicle development and test teams to systematically recreate and validate even rare or difficult-to-reproduce issues. This simplifies interoperability and regression testing while reducing the need for repeated field testing.

The CANoe Emulation Package EV uses recorded BLF or PCAP trace files as input, for example. The solution emulates charging station behavior according to DIN 70121 and ISO 15118-2 and is suitable for SIL, HIL, and full-vehicle test environments. It reproduces communication behavior across all relevant transport and application layers. The emulation is fully parameter-driven, ensuring high repeatability, a key requirement for automated testing and CI/CD workflows.

At the core of the CANoe Emulation Package EV is the realistic reproduction of recorded charging station communication. CCS conformance testing is not part of the CANoe Emulation Package EV and is covered by the CANoe Test Package EV.
