| Complete Solution for SOVD: Vector Simplifies the Move to Modern Vehicle Diagnostics |
| Stuttgart, July 8, 2026 – Vector, a leading solution provider for the development of software-defined systems, is introducing an end-to-end toolchain for Service-Oriented Vehicle Diagnostics (SOVD). The solution enables vehicle manufacturers and suppliers to efficiently test, evaluate, and integrate SOVD as a modern diagnostic approach into next-generation vehicle architectures. The SOVD toolchain is available now and is designed to support a fast and straightforward adoption of SOVD technology. Service-Oriented Vehicle Diagnostics (SOVD) provides a unified API for diagnostics in both software-based and traditional mechatronic vehicles. To support the development of diagnostic systems for modern vehicles, Vector combines established and newly developed tools into a comprehensive SOVD toolchain. As a complete solution, it covers all stages of development – from specification and validation to the implementation and use of SOVD in the vehicle – and can be flexibly adapted to different project requirements. Users benefit from seamlessly integrated tools that enable a consistent implementation of the SOVD standard, helping to reduce development effort and accelerate development cycles. At the core of the toolchain is the new SOVD Explorer, a diagnostic tool designed for individual vehicle components as well as the entire vehicle. Specifically tailored to the SOVD standard, it assists developers both in using SOVD and in reading and writing vehicle data via SOVD. By providing intuitive access to all available SOVD API functions, a structured view of the vehicle’s status, and automation options, the SOVD Explorer simplifies the development of diagnostic systems for future software-defined vehicles. To facilitate adoption of SOVD, Vector provides a three-step implementation model. In the first step, SOVD concepts can be tested on existing UDS-based vehicles without requiring any modifications to the vehicle. In the second step, the technology is tested directly within the vehicle network to evaluate performance and resource consumption. Finally, the SOVD stack is fully integrated into the vehicle architecture. The Vector SOVD Starter Kit supports a quick start and includes the SOVD Explorer together with the SOVD Classic Diagnostic Adapter. Vector is actively involved in the development of the SOVD standard and brings extensive expertise to customer projects. In addition, the company provides tailored engineering services, proof-of-concept projects, and training as needed. More information: www.vector.com/sovd-tools |
