Vector Expands CANoe Test Package EV With Security Tests for Charging Communication
Stuttgart, Germany, 2025-04-14 – Vector Informatik is expanding the CANoe Test Package EV to include dedicated security tests for charging communication. The extension supports manufacturers and suppliers identify vulnerabilities in their charging communication implementation early on. It also helps them meet regulatory and safety-critical requirements and reliably secure charging processes.

As electric vehicles and charging infrastructure become increasingly interconnected, the security of charging communication is gaining importance. Standards such as ISO 15118, functions such as Plug & Charge, and the use of TLS increase the need to identify security vulnerabilities early and to ensure reliable charging processes. At the same time, manual security testing is often time-consuming, difficult to reproduce and not suitable for integration into CI/CD processes. In addition, documenting test results and continuously maintaining and evolving test solutions requires significant effort and cost.

The CANoe Test Package EV – Security addresses these challenges through an automated testing approach for charging communication. It enables efficient, reproducible, and continuous validation of charging communication and can be seamlessly integrated into existing development and integration processes. Automated test execution combined with systematic documentation of results reduces manual effort and supports consistent quality assurance throughout the entire development cycle.

The functional scope covers vehicle-to-grid (V2G) communication fuzzing with System Under Test monitoring, TLS fuzzing, TLS protocol tests, and custom security tests via defined interfaces. Supported standards include ISO 15118-2, ISO 15118-20, TLS 1.2 and TLS 1.3. The solution is continuously being enhanced, with further functions added over time.

By adding security tests to the CANoe Test Package EV, Vector enables security aspects of charging communication to be systematically addressed at an early stage of the development process. This is an integral part of modern test and validation strategies for electromobility.
