Infineon Receives "Best of Excellent Quality Award" from Toyota Hirose Plant
Neubiberg, Germany and Tokyo, Japan – April 21, 2009 – Infineon Technologies AG (FSE/NYSE: IFX) today announced that the Hirose plant of the car manufacturer Toyota has awarded Infineon the ”Best of Excellent Quality Award 2009“ for its extraordinary product quality. This is the first time ever that a non-Japanese company was honored with a “Best of Excellent Quality Award” and Infineon is the only recipient of the award in 2009. Infineon was recognized for providing CAN transceivers with zero-defect quality for three years running to the Toyota Hirose plant, where state-of-the art electronics components for Toyota vehicles are developed and manufactured.

Toyota Hirose plant presents its annual Quality Awards in five categories (”Honorary Award of Quality” for more than 4-years running of zero defect, ”Best of Excellent Quality Award” for three consecutive years running of zero defect, ”Excellent Quality Award” for zero defect in the year, ”Good Quality Award”, and ”Certificate of Appreciation”). In the past five years, only three suppliers have received the ”Honorary Award”, and seven suppliers have been awarded with ”Best of Excellence Quality Award”. In the past, Infineon received quality awards for the years 2004 (Excellent Quality), 2006 (Good Quality), 2007 (Excellent Quality), and 2008 (Excellent Quality).

Toyota Hirose plant honored the award winners at a ceremony on April 20, 2009.
Hirofumi Muta, Operating Officer at Toyota and Head of the Hirose plant, presented the award to Infineon’s Prof. Dr. Hermann Eul, Member of the Management Board and responsible for Sales and Marketing, Technology and R&D at Infineon Technologies AG.

“Receiving the ’Best of Excellent Quality Award’ from Toyota’s Hirose plant is a great honor to us because it confirms one of our core competencies,“ said Prof. Hermann Eul. “It is our objective to design and supply ever more intelligent chips that increase the energy efficiency and safety of vehicles while offering zero-defect quality. We will continue to meet the quality standards entrusted in us.”
