ERNI offers Modular Jacks with GR-1089-CORE Lightening Strike Protection

Adelberg, Germany - August 17, 2005 - ERNI has developed a broad range of Modular Jacks, with integrated magnetics, for 10/100 Ethernet. These jacks are right-angle, single- port configurations meeting IEC60603-7 performance requirements and GR-1089-CORE compliant lightening strike protection. The GR-1089-CORE standard applies to service provider network equipment and covers electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and electrical safety. Two different circuit designs are available to fulfill different customer performance and cost needs. PHY side diodes provide a low-cost solution for many applications. Cable side, high-voltage diodes offer the highest level of protection. Both circuits are footprint compatible with, and drop-in replaceable for, standard 10/100 Modular Jacks with integrated magnetics. The single-port Modular Jacks with integrated magnetics provide effective grounding through shields with panel flanges on top and on both sides. Versions with integrated LED's are available in a variety of colors. In addition to Modular Jacks with integrated magnetics compatible with common PHY's, ERNI can customize products to meet customers' specific circuit-design needs. Connectors for all Ethernet data rates are available. The ModJacks are based on a patented design and specified to meet FCC and IEEE 802.3 requirements for voltage isolation and performance.
