IAR Systems announces support for high-end ARM processors

Embedded Systems Expo, Tokyo, Japan and Uppsala, Sweden — May 12, 2011 — IAR Systems® today announced that its software development tool suite IAR Embedded Workbench® now supports code generation and debugging on the ARM Cortex-A8 and ARM Cortex-A9 processor cores. IAR Embedded Workbench allows engineers to build and debug software for applications requiring high computing performance and low power consumption. “We are committed to provide customers with reliable and powerful development tools for current and future ARM processors” said Stefan Skarin, CEO of IAR Systems. The availability of a single development environment for all ARM cores to provide migration paths is of great importance for customers running multiple projects on different processors.” ARM Cortex-A8 and Cortex-A9 based devices are typically used where a combination of high performance and low power consumption is required, for example in handheld high-end consumer electronics and advanced medical applications. IAR Embedded Workbench provides developers with tools supporting the development of software applications that meet these requirements. IAR C/C++ Compiler adds software performance by applying many advanced optimizations that fully utilize the processor’s capabilities, while IAR C-SPY Debugger provides the latest power debugging technology from IAR Systems, allowing users to tune applications for minimized power consumption.
