ALPS Provides Connector Series for Tiny TransFlash Memory Cards
Duesseldorf, Germany, May 23, 2005 - Especially for the thumbnail sized TransFlash™ memory cards, fast removable storage medias with capacities of 64MB, 128MB, and 256MB, ALPS Electric Europa GmbH now offers a range of new connectors. The surface-mountable devices are designed as standard mount type and are remarkable for their compact, low-profile design with external dimensions of only 15.2mm x 14.0mm x 1.9mm (l x w x h) and a long ejection stroke of 3.0mm for the storage media. The connectors feature a push-push mechanism, which allows a user-friendly and easy handling through manual insertion and removal of the memory card and guarantees a tight footing. To achieve a good operational feeling with handling the memory cards, the card connectors create a clearly defined clicking sound.

The SCHA1 series is rated for 3,6VDC and up to 0.5A per pin and guarantees for an operating life of 5,000 mating and unmating cycles. The operating temperature ranges from –20°C to +70°C. Further technical specifications are a maximum initial contact resistance of 100mΩ at the connector contacts, an insulation resistance of up to 1,000MΩ and a voltage proof of 500VAC per minute. The card connectors are suitable for lead-free reflow soldering and are available in minimum packing units of 1,400 pieces.

The high degree of miniaturization of the SCHA1 series was achieved through the use of ALPS’ proprietary thin body-forming and precision molding technologies. Because of their compact external dimensions these card connectors are the ideal solution for mobile phones.
