Vector Enables Flashing of Linux-Based ECUs According to OEM Requirements
Stuttgart, GERMANY, 2017-01-09 - Vector is supplementing its portfolio of basic software products by adding a flash bootloader for Linux-based ECUs. Developers will now benefit from a quick and easy solution for reprogramming these ECUs according to OEM-specific requirements.
It enables reliable updating of shell scripts and graphic data as well as configuration and operating system files.

New infotainment and telematic controllers feature high-resolution graphics and comprehensive connectivity. In order to handle these high performance requirements, operating systems such as Linux are now used with these embedded systems. Vector’s Flash Bootloader for conventional and AUTOSAR-conformant ECUs has now been extended for POSIX-compatible operating systems such as Linux. Communications with the flash tool are performed over Ethernet per ISO 13400-2 (DoIP) in accordance with OEM-specific download specifications.

The bootloader is based on the Linux runtime environment and thereby enables file-based software downloads. This also lets users update individual sections of software - in a time-saving and very efficient way - during development, in production and in vehicle service. An additional advantage: the available security options effectively protect ECUs with sensitive vehicle data.

The Vector Flash Bootloader is available for all established automotive OEMs and commonly used embedded Linux systems in the automotive field. If necessary, the basic software can be used for other POSIX-compatible operating systems.
