|ADL Embedded Solutions offers substitute for the Edison, Galileo and Joule series SBCs affected by Intel's announcement of discontinuation.|
|10 July – ADL Embedded Solutions, a leading provider of high-performance embedded solutions, offers with Intel's BayTrail SoC series and its latest single board computers (SBC) the perfect substitute for developer boards of Intel's Edison, Galileo and Joule series affected by the announcement of discontinuation.
Intel's end-of-life (EOL) announcement has surprised many customers involved with low power systems. Developers of typical applications such as mobile computing, wearables, IoT and IIOT are now anxious that they have opted for the wrong technology and their development efforts have been in vain. Furthermore, they are worried about a re-design that requires a great deal of efforts and expenses which delays their products' time to market. This is where ADL offers an instant solution with directly available hardware.
With the ADLE3800SEC, the PCIe/104-SBC ADLE3800PC and the 3.5 inch boards ADLE3800HD and ADLE3800HDC, ADL currently markets four solutions with x86 technology, which offer full Windows and Linux operating system compatibility. The SBCs boast high compute performance in addition to a broad graphics and interface offering and thus present the ideal solution for substituting the products affected by Intel’s discontinuation. Todays conducted developments based on x86 architecture can be continued 1:1 with the ADL hardware. This means that no resources are wasted and developments can continue without any major delays. The previous made investments were not wasted. Samples and development kits are available from ADL on a loan based option along with driver and firmware support (Windows and Linux).
"The ADLE3800SEC, a single board computer measuring just 75 x 75 mm and featuring Edge-Connect architecture, is based for example on processors from Intel's E3800 Atom family (BayTrail SoC product generation, later also Apollo Lake E39xx)", says Martin Kristof, Managing Director of ADL Embedded Solutions GmbH. "These processors are characterised by a TDP as low as 3 Watt for the Intel E3805 dual-core processor unitl up to only 10 Watt for the Intel E3845 quad-core processor. Thanks to this low power consumption and the wide input voltage range of the on-board PSU from 20 up to 30 VDC (optionally 7 up to 36 VDC), the SBC is easy to integrate in typical space constrained and mobile applications."
ADL Embedded Solutions offers a wide range of services to support developers. These include the design or the adaptation of fullcustom BIOS versions, the development of custom-specific boards and cooling concepts. Integration support such as the installation of custom-specific operating systems are as well offered from the final assembly plant in Siegen. Not to mention the value-added services for rugged environmental usage like an optional BGA underfill and conformal coating for high shock and vibration resistance and/or deployment in harsh environments or in an extended temperature range. 3D CAD support with own ADL board models ensures matching enclosure and termal solution design.
The German design and development team of ADL Embedded Solutions is well experienced with customer-specific designs and support. All ADL boards are manufactured with state-of-the-art equipment at the EMS plant in Verl (North-Rhine Westphalia, Germany) in compliance with the highest quality standards. Perfect logistics ensures the production and assembly of the customers system and allows a just-in-time shipping.
On account of its global project experience in rugged embedded computers, ADL Embedded Solutions is the perfect partner for every industrial enterprise that depends on reliable solutions.
